Public Sector Major Loss Guide Published

Vericlaim have been working closely with Alarm (the association for public sector risk managers) to produce a concise best practice guide for how to respond to a major loss. This was inspired by the experiences of many clients during the 2015 Winter floods, who felt that their business continuity plans did not provide concise, practical advice – particularly on insurance aspects.

The guide covers pre-loss planning, stakeholder management and tips on the initial steps to take during the critical first few hours after an event. It has been developed in conjunction with risk managers, reflecting their priorities and concerns following a major loss.

The guide has also formed the basis for the creation of a unique Vericlaim Major Loss App. The App will provide personalised contact information and guidance for clients and ensure that they are always able to access up to date support in dealing with a crisis – particularly out of hours. Following initial testing with risk managers, insurers and brokers, the App will be available from Vericlaim in January 2017.

Congrats to team Vericlaim at Velo Birmingham 2017

A team from our Birmingham office took part in Velo Birmingham 2017, a charity cycling event which took place on 24th September. John Armstrong, Barnaby Smith, David Bevan and Sam Boley raised money for their chosen charities, the NSPCC, Alzheimer’s Society, Cure Leukaemia and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

None of the team had any proper road cycling experience or even owned a bike prior to the event! Despite this, the team trained hard, and all reached the finish line between 7-10 hours, so the six months of training certainly paid off! Hundreds lined the streets to cheer on the 15,000 cyclists racing through Birmingham city, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and back again, covering 100 miles with 1,754 metres of climbs. The event itself raised over £2 million.

The star of the day was Barnaby Smith, who had found it difficult to make training due to commitments with a young family but on the day sheer grit and determination got him over the line. John Armstrong, Director, said

“We are feeling very proud of ourselves and will be trying to keep up the fitness we’ve gained in the process. The best news is that we made our target of £2,000 for the four charities.”

Congratulations to team Vericlaim for a fantastic achievement!
